Artists Nick Olson and Lilah Horwitz built this spectacular "glass cabin" the facade is constructed from found windows from scrapheaps and abandoned buildings. Early on in their relationship Olson invited Horwitz to visit his families property in south west Virginia, during their time there they were inspired by the setting sun on an evening walk and a vision of the house was born.
“Light is so different in the morning, at noon and at dusk. We wanted to somehow build a house so that change happened in our living space,” Olson said. “It’s about being closer to living with the elements.”The interlocking arrangements of all the different shapes and structures of the window offer a visually exciting experience, the stories and history of all the windows intertwined into one piece is very romantic and quite playful. Also like the sympathy the building has to its surroundings, the glass allowing the light in and the reflections of the trees caught in the glass.
